Look It Up!

BLACK MOLD CHICAGO

Question. Chicago IL - Our neighbor Ray was robbed by these guys wearing masks. Now he walks around his yard caring a gun and says he’ll shoot anyone who tries to rob him again. Our problem is that we have this black mold growing in our Florida room and we need to clean it up. Everything we read says that we should wear protective masks because of the spores floating through the air. But what if Ray sees us in the masks and shoots us? Here’s my question. Do we really need to wear masks, or do they just say that to get you to buy masks?

Answer - Well...my friend, just about every expert seems to think wearing a mask is important when you start cleaning up mold. When you clean you’re disturbing all those spores and they float through the air by the millions. You don’t want to breathe them into your lungs. You should really wear gloves, a special suit and a respirator. (One pro suggests an N-95 respirator.) Perhaps you could find a respirator that would make you look like an alien attack force and scare Ray back into the house. Or he might shoot at you even faster. But get that mold cleaned up. Wait until Ray goes to work or on vacation. Or invite him over to help!
