Black Mold San Diego
Question. San Diego, CA - Professor, we just remodeled our basement into an entertainment room and it’s still sometimes damp down there. We’re going to get a bigger dehumidifier. My retired, lazy butt husband Lars (That’s not his real name but I call him Lars as a nickname for lard ass–my secret!) wants to move his upholstery reclining chair downstairs. Is that a good idea? Won’t it collect mold.
Answer. Some experts say you’re right. It is best to use furniture in basements that is not porous like upholstery. Fabric can get damp and be a breading ground for black mold and other types of mold. It is better to go with hard surface materials that you can cleanup with ease. Plastic or wood is a good choice as long as the wood has been finished with paint or varnish.
