Question. Houston TX - Supposed you had 14 year old boy who was trying to summon up a demon with incantations from a book he rented at the Houston library in an effort to turn his English teacher into a rodent and he dripped hot wax from a black pillar candle all over his bedroom carpet. Answer - Ahhh...your son was working an old European trick. We had two gerbils and a guinea pig teaching German literature in my high school back in Bavaria. Local folks were always calling local carpet cleaners to get black wax out of their rugs. The pros suggest scraping off all the wax you can, then using a citrus solvent – which by the way is usually marketed as an environmentally-friendly cleaning product – to blot it up. You might also try a paint-oil-grease remover (POG). Some experts also suggest applying heat to the wax, but I won’t even tell you about that. Sounds scary to me depending upon the type of carpeting you have, and I’m not going to look up more on that right now because my back is killing me.
