Carpet Cleaning New York
Question. New York. NY - At our house we eat ketchup on everything. Everything! Now we have ketchup stains on our oriental rug from when Jody put ketchup on an ice cream cone. As the ice cream melted the ketchup seemed to lose its grip and there are a series of spots from one end of the rug to another.
Answer. This can be tricky stuff according to some cleaning professionals. When you’re talking genuine oriental rug–and it might be an expensive one–the safest approach might be to take it to a professional cleaner or have a rug cleaning expert come to you. Others say that time is of the essence and that you need to quickly remove all the ketchup you can by scooping it up and then running water through the rug or blotting it up with plain water. Others suggest using a dishwashing and water mixture. Finally one fellow from a cleaning association suggests that if all else fails use hydrogen peroxide (3% solution) and blot it out. Don’t use all these methods at once! Use one approach only after trying another and cleaning up between attempts. Have you tried ketchup on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Most excellent!
