Look It Up!

Cleaners Houston

Question. Houston, TX - My husband is getting to be really paranoid about germs like Howard Hughes. I was talking to my sister-in-law about what she used in her toilet bowl to keep it clean and my brother and my husband were listening. My brother who has a Houston cleaning service told us that when you flush a toilet tiny particles of whatever is in the toilet bowl flies out in kind of a fine mist and covered everything in the bathroom. My husband’s eyes got big as a half dollar. He got up and went into the garage and put on a pair of gardening gloves and came back in and jumped on my brother and tried to start slapping him! It was a nightmare! Now my brother and sister-in-law won’t visit us and my husband won’t hardly go into the bathroom. He wears a face mask in there. Is there any truth to what my brother was telling us?

Answer - Unfortunately, yes there is. When you flush the toilet a fine germy mist flies out and lands on about everything–even the towels that you wipe your hands and face with! It’s unhealthy and there’s doesn’t seem to be a perfect solution. One thing the experts strongly recommend is closing the toilet lid before you flush. That keeps some of the germs from misting out. Don’t raise that lid until you need to use the toilet again. Another thing that helps somewhat is to use those toilet-bowl cleaners that are automatic and last for hundreds or thousands of flushes. It’s nothing personal, but I hate toilet cleaning questions. What a world!
