Look It Up!

Janitor Houston

Question. Houston TX - My cousin has a janitorial carpet cleaning business. Well, actually he rents a machine at the grocery store and cleans your carpeting for you. His other job is stuffing dead animals like beavers and raccoons. I guess he does okay, but my wife complains about how wet the carpet is and how long it takes to dry. She said it is like walking through a swamp for days. Is there any way to speed up the drying process?

Answer. You could find a regular full-time carpet cleaner who advertises fast drying. But then who would stuff your beavers? Is your cousin going over the carpet using the vacuum process of the machine to pull water out of the carpet? If not, suggest a little more time be spent on that part of the job. Also, some pros suggest you turn up the heat in the room. Since warm air can hold more moisture than cooler air it will pull moisture out of the carpet. Once you room is pretty hot and the warm air has pulled out the moisture open your windows and let that moist air escape. You might have to do this more than once. Perhaps several times according to the experts. But it works–they say!
