Question. Miami, FL - So what’s the difference between black mold and mildew? I know they’re spelled different. But you’re the expert researcher! I need to clean the mildew or mold off my concrete driveway. I think we’ve let it get way out of control. It’s slimy and we keep slipping on it. Sometimes my Mini Cooper goes sideways.
Answer. According to the big brains of cleaning, concrete absorbs moisture and can hold onto it long enough for mold and mildew to take hold.Add about 20% chlorine bleach to some water and scrub it down. Be sure there is nothing nearby the bleach might damage. Bad news: it will probably come back as long as the driveway keeps getting wet! You might check into a driveway sealer. I saw a neighbor out there with a pressure washer, not doing his driveway but the sides of his brick house. He says it washes off mildew stains.
