Question. Atlanta, GA - Fred, my 100% retired husband doesn’t believe in furnace or air conditioning filters. The ceiling tile around our heat vents just gets dirtier and dirtier. It looks like our vents are wearing black lipstick! When I ask Fred about changing the our furnace filters, he puts the remote on mute and he says there is no such thing as furnace filters. The furnace people just made them up to sell us something. Then he takes the remote off mute and turns up the volume. What can I do?

You could threaten to stick your vacuum cleaning pipe down Fred’s throat because you’re worried about his keeping his air passages open. Don’t really do that.
